MORE than a dozen people have been killed after a man armed with a knife went on the rampage at a disabled centre in Japan.
Reports from local media cite the death toll as anything from 15 to 19 with as many as 45 feared injured.
The attacker reportedly walked into a centre for disabled people in the city of Sagamihara, west of Tokyo, brandishing the weapon.
Police were called to the scene at around 2.30am local time (10.30pm UK time) after locals saw a man armed with a knife in the grounds of the Tsukui Yamayuri Garden.
Four of the injured are said to be in a serious condition.
Armed police surrounded the centre and are thought to have arrested a man in his 20s on suspicion of murder.
The attacker is said to have turned himself in to police.
