A care home nurse who allegedly failed to tell a family that their loved one had died faces being struck off.

Fong-Chaio Chen is facing 20 charges of misconduct while employed as a staff nurse at Bupa-run homes in the West of Scotland including Wyndford Locks in Glasgow.

The nurse is facing a catalogue of charges related to drug errors.

However charge 16 states: "You failed to notify a resident’s next of kin of the death of the resident." No further details were given about the incident.

The nurse, who is listed on the learning disability register, is also alleged to have attempted to give medication intended for one elderly man to another male resident.

Another charge states the nurse almost given a double dose of anti-psychotic medication - Risperidone - to a resident, after having administered it earlier.

And when asked what the drug was used for, the nurse did not know.

On another occasion, the nurse is alleged to have prepared the Epilepsy drug Epilim for a resident, when this had already been given at 7am.

The nurse is also alleged to have failed to provide "safe and competent care" to one or more residents.

Charge eight states that the nurse failed to apply a patch of the heart medication Lidocaine patch to a resident and then signed the notes to say it had been given.

The charges relating to Wyndford Lock home relate to drug management and record keeping.

The incidents are alleged to have happened between October 2004 and 26 January 2015.

Fong-Chaio Cheng is due to appear before a hearing of the Nursing and Midwifery Council from August 2 - 10.
