A bodybuilding champion was stabbed to death at an industrial estate in broad daylight at lunchtime yesterday. 

Locally named 45-year-old Michael O'Hanlon, or Musk, was found dead at Moorpark Industrial Estate following an attack in Ayrshire, Stevenson.

Police and emergency services rushed to the scene shortly after 12 noon but medics prounounced him dead at the scene.

Police have arrested a 43-year-old man in connection with his death. 

The HK Autotek garage on the Moorpark Industrial Estate remained cordoned off last night by forensic officers.

A Nissan Navara was removed from the scene yesterday following the incident. 

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "At 12pm on Monday, July 25, police and emergency services responded to a report of a 45 year-old man having been injured on the Moorpark Industrial Estate in Stevenston.

"The man was pronounced dead at the scene by ambulance staff.   

"A post mortem will take place to establish the cause of death which is being treated as suspicious. 

"Enquiries are at an early stage, however, detectives are following a positive line of enquiry."

A source said Michael's fiancée Eileen Kirkwood had been left devastated by the news. 

The couple ran a chain of fitness shops called Musclebox O’Hanlon and amassed a dedicated string of clients. 

The pair had gotten engaged on Christmas Day 2015 and had been planning their nuptials.

Friends have spoken of their shock in the wake of the attack.

Close friend James Llewellin told of his devastation and disbelief after hearing the news of O'Hanlon's death.

He said: "Today we have lost a great great man. I am absolutely devastated to hear the incredibly sad news that Mike O'Hanlon (Mr Musk) was taken from us in a cruel and cowardly way this lunchtime.

"I'm still trying to comprehend and process everything and I'm still in total disbelief."

"He was one of the kindest, loyal, loving, determined man I have ever met and his wonderful fiancée Eieen Kirkwood loved this man to the moon and back as he did her."

"You were nothing but an inspiration to me."

Fellow bodybuilder James Salmon said: "A very Sad day my heart goes out to all that loved and new Big Musk !! Am shocked and saddened we have lost a Scottish Bodybuilding legend and a true Gent R.I.P Buddy."

Gordon Maxwell said: "Such a terrible loss to many, Musky was one of the most gentle guys I've ever had the privilege to have known for many years. You will be missed by many old pal...RIP."

O'Hanlon had previously worked as a head door steward at a Glasgow nightclub.

He was sentenced to seven months in prison for drug-dealing in 2014 after police found 1287 diazepam tablets and just over £3000 in cash at his home.

At the time he told the court he took supplements containing large amounts of caffeine while training in the gym which kept him awake at night so he fell into the habit of taing diazepam to help him sleep. 

He admitted he’d begun buying the pills in bulk, first for his own personal use, but eventually sharing them among friends.
