Happy Mondays’ Bez appeared on This Morning on Wednesday alongside Rylan Clark-Neal to discuss their time on Celebrity Big Brother.

However, the band’s dancer sparked debate from viewers as he looked distracted and appeared to lose track of one question mid-way through.

Bez, whose real name is Mark Berry, won CBB in 2005 and revealed he was paid £50,000 to go on the show, which covered an outstanding tax bill he owed.

He told hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford: “I’d never watched the show before, but to me, it was to my advantage because I did it as I wanted to do it, not how they wanted me to do it.

“I wouldn’t dress as German, I wouldn’t join in some games because I think they were trying to make me look a bit daft.”

But asked whether he was surprised at winning, Bez veered off into a story about the house that he said was too juicy for daytime TV, before losing track of his thoughts and asking Ruth to repeat the question.

With Bez saying that he went in there treating it as a job, Rylan admitted his time in the house had been particularly profitable afterwards.

“I got a husband, two diary room chairs, I got loads of furniture for my garden and a job,” 2013 winner Rylan said.

“Unfortunately for me, I didn’t do that well because I’m an unmarketable commodity,” Bez replied.

Some viewers found the interview uncomfortable, with one saying she “can’t actually watch anymore”.

But others thought he looked better after a self-proclaimed “lifestyle change”.

Rylan let slip some details about the new series, which begins on Thursday night.

He said: “We’ve got all our housemates, we’ve lost one or two over the last couple of weeks.”

Eamonn replied: “I heard a friend of mine didn’t make it in, not a friend of mine, someone I detest. Two friends of mine are in there.”
