ScotRail have suspended trains destined for Glasgow's Central Station this morning after a fault with overhead electrical wires. 

Services are not expected to be running until 12 noon after the fault was discovered during rushhour at 7am. 

Multiple main routes and local services are affected including Neilston, Cathcart Circle, Kilmarnock, Clarkston, East Kilbride, Newton, Cambuslang and Motherwell. 

Other routes are affected include Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Inverness. 

ScotRail are running are replacement bus services at numerous locations and have advised passengers to keep up to date via social media. 

Passengers with Cross Country UK tickets have been advised they can use ScotRail services between Glasgow Queen Street and Edinburgh. 

First Buses are accepting passengers at  Nitshill, Priesthill, Kennishead, Thornliebank, Giffnock, Clarkston, Busby, Hairmyers, Clarkston, Busby, Hairmyers, East Kilbride, Cambuslang, Uddingston, Bellshill, Motherwell. 

A ScotRail spokesperson said: “There are overhead wire problems which are affecting access to five platforms. Engineers are on site to diagnose and repair. It’s not possible to say how long disruption to services will last.”

“Customers should retain their tickets as the nature of this disruption means they may be entitled to compensation through our Delay Repay scheme.”
