THE death of a man whose body was recovered from the River Kelvin in Glasgow is being treated as unexplained.
Police Scotland officers and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service's River Boat Rescue team were called to the River Kelvin at Kelvindale Road at around 4.35pm on Tuesday after they were alerted to a man's body in the water.
The body was recovered from the water and formal identification is still to take place.
Police, however, say the death is being treated as unexplained.
A post mortem will take place to establish the cause of death.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Around 4.35pm on Tuesday, July 26 police were called to River Kelvin near Kelvindale Road and the body of a man was recovered from the water.
"Formal identification has still to take place and the death is currently being treated as unexplained.
"A post mortem examination will take place in due course to establish the exact cause of death and a full report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."
The road was closed off to members of the public for several hours while emergency services carried out their investigations at the scene.
It is understood a private ambulance removed the body from the scene late on Tuesday evening.
Tragic angler Craig Allison (pictured left)
Earlier this year, 21-year-old Craig Allison's body was recovered from the same river.
The Ruchill angler's body was found in an area known locally as the ‘Slushie’ at the River Kelvin, close to Cowal Road at Blairbuie Drive in Maryhill at around 8.45am on Sunday, April 24.
Police said at the time Craig had gone fishing on the Saturday afternoon with friends before he passed.
The area he was discovered is a popular spot for fishing and the canal path is used by joggers, cyclists and dog walkers.
His death was also treated as unexplained and his funeral took place earlier this month.
