BRAINLESS thugs set fire to seats on a train travelling from Glasgow to Troon which was put out by a member of the public. 

The vandals set fire to newspapers in the second coach of the train at around 7.15pm on June 21.

British Transport Police are appealing for information following an incident in which two young people are believed to have set fire to a seat on a train.

Witnesses reported seeing one of the men setting fire to newspapers in the second coach. They then both left the area.

The fire consumed part of a seat and the surrounding floor area.

A member of the public got up and stamped out the fire, before returning to his seat.

Officers would like to speak to this man, and anyone else who witnessed the incident.

The offender was white and was wearing a white and blue Adidas tracksuit top and a navy blue baseball cap. He was carrying a football.
