An elderly grandmother living above a cafe claims the owners have destroyed her home and are making her life a misery.
House-proud Faye Sawers says large cracks started appearing up the walls of her East End flat when builders began working on a revamp of Coia's cafe in May.
However Alfredo and Antonia Coia, who run the Duke Street venue, did not have permission to carry out the work.
The application for alterations is still being processed by the council's building control team despite the work finishing almost two months ago.
The grandmother-of-four said she has had "nothing but trouble" from the cafe owners and that the cracks in four of the rooms in her flat got worse as the work progressed.
The fence in the building's back court has also been cut which Faye says was done by the venue to let cafe staff get through with deliveries.
Tenants had to change the locks to prevent staff using their building as a thoroughfare for sacks of potatoes, oil and alcohol.
Faye, who is in her 70s, said: "I've had enough of this carry on, they've given us an awful lot of hassle.
"I asked the people upstairs if they had cracks and they do in the very same place as where mine have appeared.
"I can't shut the spare room door or my bedroom door any more - the building has definitely moved.
"I'm not an architect but I know that.
"My units in my kitchen have also dropped."
Faye is now concerned about the value of her home and is considering taking legal action against Mr Coia, along with at least one other home owner in the same building.
She said: "I don't know how this will affect the price of my house and I don't know how well this can even be repaired.
"I really love my flat, I've lived here for 30 years, and I take pride in it."
Residents have also had to put up with the installation of a freezer measuring 6 square feet outside their back windows.
Faye said: "That freezer is big enough to fit a car in. I was told it would only be a small thing; it's huge.
"It's not fair. Children can't use the back to play because of how much space it takes up and it's quite noisy, constantly, as well.
"There were ladders against the freezer the other day and I had to ask them to move them.
"I stay here myself, I've had a heart attack - If someone climbed up to my window I'd die of fright."
Coia's owner Alfredo did not respond to our requests for comment on the allegations despite repeated attempts to contact him.
