The draw could have been kinder to Celtic for the play-off stage of the Uefa Champions League, but at the same time I never think there is too much point in looking at what could have been.

Yes, Dundalk and a game at the Aviva would have been ideal but all you can do is deal with your own reality.

One of the main downsides of the draw is the fact that Celtic will host Hapoel Be’er Sheva in the first leg in Glasgow because I know that everyone always prefers to come back to their home ground knowing exactly what you have to do.

But, again, you just need to get on with it.

The usual preparations will get underway immediately know with the club analysing their opponents and looking at the way they set up but I would definitely expect that Nir Bitton can come into his own in a situation like this too.

The midfielder will know a fair bit about the team and how they will play and you use everything at your disposal to get the information you need.

The only other thing I would say about the draw is that while it means another relatively long journey and the potential to be playing in sweltering heat, Israel itself is not a trip into the unknown.

You know that you will be going to good facilities, the hotel will be fine and you know what to expect, so it is not another Kazakhstan.

That they put out Olympiakos in the previous round suggests that they are a very capable side and I am sure that Celtic will not underestimate them.

They have never qualified for the Uefa Champions League before now so I do think that Brendan Rodgers’ side should have the capabilities of getting past them and into the group stages.

It won’t be easy and the set-up of the draw is not ideal but I do think that with the right approach and maybe at least one or two new players in before the game that Celtic can get themselves through it.
