There has been a bit of chat about Craig Gordon and whether or not he has slipped a little but I have to say that I think he is as good a goalkeeper as Celtic could get at the moment.

I would also tend to think that the reason for some of the criticism has been because he performed so well in his first full season at the club that he set the bar considerably high.

I felt last season that he was affected by the constant changing of personnel in front of him and there always seemed to be different combinations for him to try and get used to because of the number of injury issues there were.

With Kolo Toure and Eoghan O’Connell in there at the minute – and the youngster has played well, I think – it has been relatively settled over the last couple of weeks but if he was maybe culpable against Astana in the game at Celtic Park, I think that people need to remember the heights at which he is capable of performing.

I think he is an excellent goalkeeper and I think that for the time being he will remain the first choice stopper at the club. He has high standards that he set for himself with his level of performance and I suspect that with a settled team in from of him again and a team that are playing with confidence then we will see the best of him again.
