Hoops striker Moussa Dembele is keen to kick on having scored his first goal from open play for the Parkhead club during the midweek rout of Motherwell.

The 20-year-old netted a brace with one goal from the spot before adding another and he believes he has found his feet in Glasgow.

“I was pleased that we got through and I scored two goals,” the striker told CelticTV. “I am a happy man today.

“Every day I feel sharper and sharper and we saw that. There is a lot of
movement, a lot of options. They are clever players and understand the game well.

“I can play with one or two up top and I am comfortable on my own. It is good for the team that we have options.”

Meanwhile, Jozo Simunovic has dismissed reports that he is keen on a move to Italian club Torino. An Italian website had claimed that the Seria A side were weighing up a £6m move for the 22-year-old, who has had a difficult time with injury since signing for Celtic a year ago.

“Italian reports are nonsense,” Simunovic told the Croatian press. “I have absolutely no indication about a potential departure for Torino. In fact, I think only about Celtic.

“Next week I finally join the team, and after a long injury return to normal training.”

Meanwhile, Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers has challenged James Forrest to maintain his recent form after signing a new deal with the club.

“He is not the type of boy who will rest on it,” said Rodgers. “The thing is now to earn yourself the next one. He knows he has got a way to go in terms of what we are wanting to do but I have been really impressed by him tactically. He knows the areas to press and the areas to hunt the ball and put the defenders under pressure.”

Rodgers is till keen on bringing further signings into the club before the window closes although one player who could be nearing an exit is Stefan Johansen. Galatasaray and Fulham have both looked at the Norwegian with Celtic possibly banking a £3m fee for the player.

That could further strengthen Rodgers’ hand although as the Paul Pogba deal concluded this week in a world record fee, Rodgers has admitted that it feels like a different world given the different financial climate in Scotland.

Nevertheless, he believes that qualification for the Champions League remains a realistic ambition for the Parkhead side.

“You are in a different sport, it is a different page,” said Rodgres. “I have been down there for most of my life and the Premier League in the last few years is a different world. It is a world away in terms of finance and where the game is at and the global appeal of it.

“But this is an incredible club and we are hoping that we can go on and have a really exciting season. If you look at what makes a big club – you have either got money  - and there is lots of new modern money now in the game which are making some of these clubs richer – but you have also got big clubs, like the Celtics of the world, which are huge in terms of fanbase, they have the football support, the passion, all that side.

“And all we can do is our very best to compete at the European level, to qualify and to continue look to dominate in Scotland and that is all you can do. The only thing that is missing here is in Scotland is that coverage which England has. Unfortunately with the coverage the money is on a different wavelength altogether but we can do the best with what we’ve got and be the very best that we possibly can.”
