COPS say there is no motive to an attack which resulted in a 25-year-old being left with injuries to his arm.

The incident happened in Stewarton's Rigg Street between 2am and 3am on Saturday, August 13.

Police say the 25-year-old man was walking along Rigg Street near to Sainsbury’s and the BP Shell Garage when he was approached by another man and attacked.

The man suffered injuries to his arm and was treated at Crosshouse Hospital.

Officers are gathering and reviewing CCTV footage in the hope that it provides additional information about this incident.


Police are keen to speak with anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident who may have witnessed the assault.

Detective Constable David Lawson said: “There is no known motive for this assault and we are still trying to piece together the circumstances of why this man has been attacked.

"Some of the pubs and clubs would have been closing around this time and there would have been several people milling around.

"I am appealing to anyone who was in Rigg Street and who may have seen something or who may know something to contact us.

"Your information will be assessed by officers and followed up – it could lead to an arrest.”
