GLASGOW's music community are holding a night to pay tribute to the lead singer of East Kilbride band The Lapelles who passed away after falling into the River Clyde.

Gary Watson, from East Kilbride, died on what would have been his 22nd birthday.

He fell into the River Clyde near to the Glasgow Bridge at around 10pm on Saturday night.

Several bands will join forces to celebrate one of 'Glasgow's brightest stars' at the Priory Bar in Sauchiehall Street at 11pm on Thursday.

Baby Strange, Declan Welsh, The Rockalls and White will be hosting the event, and money raised will go to Gary's family.

White said on their official Facebook page, "Let's celebrate together one of Glasgow's brightest stars, our friend Gary Watson of The Lapelles.

"Baby Strange, Declan Welsh, The Rockalls and ourselves will be hosting a night tomorrow at Priory Bar Sauchiehall Street, the pub where we all spent many an excellent late night together. All the proceeds will be going to Gary's family."

An open mic night will also be held before the event at 8pm at The Cathedral house hotel by Dave Milne.
