DF Concerts has welcomed a new mascot to provide concert-goers with information they might need in the run up to the Summer Sessions events.

'Sound Boab' will be offering his words of wisdom ahead of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds and Biffy Clyro performance’s at Bellahouston Park later this month.

The helpful mascot will be ensuring that he and everyone else there is fully aware of all the key information on travel, preparation and being respectful of local residents.

Information and advice will also be available through the Summer Sessions website, social media channels and on-site at Bellahouston Park.

Sound Boab will making his first appearance this week to encourage people to be ‘sound’, like him.

The creation of the mascot comes after local residents called for assurances over security for the event following problems with other events including drunk festival-goers using nearby gardens as toilets and intimidating locals.

In response, Police Scotland said there would be more officers at the event each day than at “a regular Rangers game” and that officers would be on patrol inside and outside the park from 9am until 3am on both days of the festival.

DF concert's production manager James Walker said the events firm is set to triple the number of phone lines available to locals to report any concerns, increasing from one line to three for the August concerts.

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds headline on the August 26, with support from Frightened Rabbit, Circa Waves and special guest Richard Ashcroft.

Biffy Clyro headline on August 27, with support from Fall Out Boy, Wolf Alice and Cage The Elephant.
