A BUDDING Scots filmmaker has got a taste of stardom after his horror-inspired flick became an internet sensation.

Stephen Coll, from Clydebank created a tribute to one of his favourite programmes - American Horror Story - by comparing it to scary flicks from history which have inspired the drama.

What stared as a project to keep him busy over the summer quickly went viral with actors, the programme's director and thousands of fans watching the video.

His film American Horror Story: An Homage to Cinema has been watched more than 23,000 times in less than week.

The film shows clips from the frightening American drama and compares them to scenes in the classic movies they were inspired by.

Among the well known classics included in the lineup is Psycho, Kill Bill, Nosferatu, Taxi Driver, Silence of the Lambs and The Lost Boys.

American Horror Story director Michael Goi shared the 6-minute film on social media and complemented 20-year-old Stephen on how much he liked it.

Since then, programme star Amazon Eve and the show's writers have complimented and shared the video.

Pop culture outlet MTV also picked up on the flick and reviewed it online.

Stephen, 20, from Clydebank, has just finished his HND in creative industries at West College Scotland, and will be heading for London next month to study film.

He said: "I'm totally taken aback at how popular it's been.

"Within a couple of hours the director of American Horror Story had tweeted me and told me he loved it. I couldn't believe it.

"After that MTV wrote about it. It has totally blown up, it's crazy.

"I just finished my HND at Clydebank College - West College Scotland. and I wanted to do some projects over the summer.

"I have loved American Horror Story since it started and decided to make a tribute to it. It took about a week all together."

The determined 20-year-old is moving to London next month to study film making after securing a place at the prestigious Met Film School.

The institution is based inside the famous Ealing Studios - the world's longest running film studio.

The Lady Killers, Whisky Galore and a host of British comedies have been filmed at the studios over the past decade.

Stephen said: "As an aspiring filmmaker it's a dream come true to be able to go and study there.

"There's a whole load of history behind it. I keep expecting to wake up and it's all been a dream - I could pinch myself."
