Female driver critical after crash near Hunterston power station
A driver is in a critical condition in hospital after her car crashed into a lamppost in North Ayrshire.
The accident happened at around 5.50am on Tuesday on the A78 Fairlie to Largs road near Hunterston power station.
Police said the car the woman was travelling in hit a lamppost close to a roundabout at the power station.
She was taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock, where staff describe her injuries as critical.
Officers closed the road to investigate the scene and have appealed for any witnesses to contact them.
