MURDER cops are probing the death of a 23-year-old who was found injured in the street in Greenock.
The victim was found in the Belville Street with serious injuries following a disturbance at around 11.20pm on Wednesday, August 24.
He died at the scene and now police have launched a murder enquiry.
Police confirmed post mortem examination will take place in due course to establish the exact cause of death.
Detective Inspector Alan McAlpine, of Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Teams (West), said: “We are currently trying to establish the events leading up to the disturbance in Belville Street which ultimately resulted in the death of this young man.
“It is vital that we speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of Belville Street around 11.20pm last night and may have witnessed activity there, or perhaps seen the suspect or suspects running off.”
