POLICE have launched a major search operation  to find a missing woman who suffers from a brain condition.

Ann Mathieson, from Pollok, was last seen around 3.30pm on Thursday, August 25 on Cathcart Road after leaving the New Victoria Hospital (Victoria Infirmary) in Grange Road.

The 57-year-old suffers from a brain condition. Police say her condition presents itself with symptoms similar to dementia. She can often appear confused or act in a child-like manner.

Cops revealed that earlier today, she attended at the New Victoria Hospital for a check-up. After her appointment, Ann disappeared from the company of her sister. Her family searched the local area initially and contacted the police for assistance later this evening after she could not be located.

Ann is described at 5ft 4ins with a medium build. She has short dark hair. When she was last seen Ann was wearing a white zipper, dark jeans and light blue shoes. She also had a purple waterproof jacket draped over a black handbag. Ann is mobile and is able to walk normal distances.

Inspector Donald Stewart, Cathcart Police office, said tonight: “There are real concerns for Ann given her vulnerability as a result of her condition. Given the length of time she has been missing for, we have expanded our search beyond the immediate area of Cathcart, Battlefield and Mount Florida. CCTV images have indicated that she may have been heading north on Cathcart Road. Officers are also searching into the City Centre. We are speaking to local business owners and continuing to analyse CCTV to trace Ann safe and well.

“Extensive searches and enquiries are ongoing to trace Ann and I would urge anyone who has seen her, or who has information on her whereabouts to contact Cathcart Police office on 101.”
