Police say a man whose body was found in a Govanhill close death is being treated as unexplained.

Officers and emergency services rushed to the scene at 6.50am on Thursday, August 25 after receiving a 999 call that a man was lying within a common close in Boyd Street.

The 26-year-old man was, however, found dead at the scene.

"Upon arrival, emergency services confirmed that the 26-year-old man had died.

"Relatives have been informed.

"A post mortem will take place in due course to establish the exact cause of death.

"The death is being treated as unexplained and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."
