A NEW state-of-the-art college in Glasgow city centre has already hit a glitch days before opening.

For a sign at the City of Glasgow College was displayed to public despite a spelling error.

The sign on a glass window stated, "Welcome to the City Campus Cathederal Street."

The street the college is situated on, however, is spelt Cathedral Street.

The blunder by the education institution has since been rectified by college bosses who admitted it has been removed in time for students starting their courses on Monday.

The City Campus, which is the size of three George Squares, officially opens it doors after years of planning.

The new campus was created following the merger of Central College, Glasgow Metropolitan College and Glasgow College of Nautical Studies in 2010.

The other half of the new £228million supercampus opened on the banks of the River Clyde in October, 2015.

Now that the £228million supercampus is completed it will be home to 40,000 students - compared to Strathclyde University's 20,000, Glasgow's 25,000 or Glasgow Caledonian's 17,000, and this will make it the largest college in Europe.
