A 32-year-old man has pled guilty to the murder of schoolgirl Paige Doherty at the High Court in Glasgow today.

Deli owner John Leathem, pleaded guilty to killing the 15-year-old teenager from Clydebank in March. 

Her heartbroken mother Pamela Munro, 32, and step-dad Andy Munro, 33, sat in court as he was remanded into custody for sentencing at a later date.

A search was launched when Paige, from Clydebank, was reported missing on Saturday, March 19, after she failed to arrive at her part-time hairdressing job.

She had left a friend's sleepover and was on her way to collect her wages from her hairdressing job in Kirkintilloch. 

The teenager was last seen at Leatham's Delicious Deli shop in Whitecrook, West Dunbartonshire before she was reported missing.

Her body was found two days later in bushes at the side of Great Western Road, a busy route connecting Clydebank and Glasgow.

The teenager's death shocked the country and sparked an ourpouring of tributes and fundraisers.

Two fundraising pages to help her family meet funeral costs and other expenses collected more than £14,000 a day after they were set up.

The landmark Titan Crane in Clydebank was lit up in pink in memory of her.

Her mother Pamela launched charity foundation Paige's Promise in memory of her daughter and currently runs self-defence classes for children.
