Paige Doherty killer John Leathem is said to be under constant watch by prison guards amid fears of hate attacks by other inmates.
The married father-of-two is also on suicide watch following his confession for the murder of the Clydebank teenager.
Prison guards are monitoring the killer round-the-clock at Low Moss prison.
Leathem was taken to Low Moss Prison in Bishopbriggs, on the outskirts of Glasgow on Monday following his guilty plea at the High Court in Glasgow.
Deli owner Leathem confessed to stabbing the 15-year-old 61 times during a frenzied attack in the back office of his deli in Clydebank.
He purchased bin bags and wipes from a local store and wrapped the teenager's body up before hiding it in his garden shed.
He later her remains near a busy road.
Heartbreaking CCTV of Paige's last moments before she was killed was shown to the court.
The footage was later made public.
Leathem will be sentenced next month. He faces a life sentence.
