SHOCKED friends and family of a young father who suddenly passed away have raised thousands for his funeral.

It is understood Andy Malley passed away this week from a short illness shocking the community of Dumbarton.

A crowdfunding page was set up after his death and has attracted over £5,000 in donations.

A post on the page states, "This page is dedicated to the memory of Andy Malley and to help support his wife and son at this tragic time.

"To all those who knew him Andy was a quick witted, funny companion, the always-there mate, a talented musician and a much loved colleague but he was also a loving husband, a great dad, a fantastic brother, a much loved son and a man many were privileged to call a friend.

"Andy was young, healthy and in the prime of his life, so unfortunately he hadn't got round to making arrangements for what we all thought was far off in the future.

"The key focus of this fund will be to help support his wife Leigh and son Jacob, who has just started school, and now faces the challenge of getting through life without the guidance and support of his dad.

"I hope you can find yourself able to contribute to our fund and help ensure Jacob and Leigh are able to focus on the emotional challenges ahead as we help look after the practicalities Andy no longer can."

It is understood Andy leaves behind his wife Leigh and son Jacob.

June Henderson said: "A sad sad day the world has lost a unique person.

"Andy Malley always a smile on his face thinking of his wife Leigh son Jacob, parents and siblings."

Rachel Barriskell added: "Really struggling to come to terms with the tragic news.

"An absolute loving, caring, selfless gentlemen who was taken far, far too soon.

"You would brighten up an entire room just by being in it and you will be sorely missed by all.

"Thoughts are with Andy's family and friends. Sleep tight."
