Football fans have condemned shocking footage believed to be of Rangers supporters destroying Celtic Park toilets after Saturday's Old Firm game.

The 44-second clip posted online by group Scottish Football Away fans shows groups of men smashing the sinks and tearing down the ceiling in toilets within the stadium.

The chaotic scenes are accompanied by the chants "Parkhead is going down" as multiple people video the destruction.

The video has been viewed more than 15,000 times.

Rangers fan Katie Ferguson commented: "I grew up being a Rangers fan because of my family but now I just don't know. Went to some games home and away. But seeing this constant disgusting behaviour has really put me off the club.

John Tennant said: "These animals should be banned from football and all ground as they are giving fellow Rangers fans and the club a bad name."

Matthew Smith said: "I'm disgusted by this as a Rangers fan, great example set to any kids that might have attended the match. Always a few that bring the club down."

Vivian Collins said: "Typical hooligan behaviour, no matter what club you support. It idiots like these that give the bad name to football. Name and shame, and make them pay for it out of their own pockets."

Gail Ramsay said: "It's absolutely disgusting behaviour from grown men."

The footage emerged after Brendan Rodgers' side had beaten Mark Warburton's men 5-1 in the first old firm clash in four years.

Fans have been blasted for bringing sectarian behaviour back to Scottish football after hanged effigies were suspended from a tier adnorned with Rangers scarfs.

The scenes have been described as disappointing by senior officers and attracted criticism online as it coincided with World Suicide Prevention Day.

Police Scotland has confirmed an investigation will take place into the vandalism.

Assistant Chief Constable Bernard Higgins, Justice and Support, said: "The overwhelming majority of those who attended the Celtic v Rangers game behaved responsibly and appeared to heed the advice given in the run up to the fixture.

"What is hugely disappointing and frustrating is that a minority of individuals behaved in a manner which has no place in our communities, football and modern society and which has resulted in Police Scotland carrying out investigations to identify those responsible."
