Hollywood star Caitriona Balfe was spotted filming scenes for the new series of Outlander in Glasgow today.

The former model was seen wearing vintage clothes while shooting took place in Dowanhill in the west end of the city, which is understood to be doubling up as Boston in the 1940s.

Eagle-eyed onlookers watched as Caitriona, 36, and Tobias Menzies, 42, were filmed outside on a road where vintage street signs had been put up, mothers were pushing old fashioned prams and a man was riding a vintage bike.

One of Caitriona's sequences featured the actress taking logs out of the boot of a grey 1949 Packard Coupe.

A Cadillac, Pontiac and Chevrolet were also on set, which were driven around the streets as shooting took place.

At one point a Chrysler broke down and had to be pushed down a hill by the film crew as it wouldn't start.
