The family of a Clydebank teenager who has been missing for over a week have issued an emotional plea for him to come home safe.

Scott Diver vanished from his home in the town's Second Avenue at around 2.45pm on Saturday, September 17, and police have since launched a major search operation to find him.

The 16-year-old's family, who was last seen by his dad Scott, have also created a Help Find Scott Diver page on the social networking site Facebook in a bid to widen the search.

In a post on the page, the family stated, "This will now be the ninth night Scott has been away from home.

"He is not in any trouble, we just want him home safe.

"He is vulnerable and although approachable would be scared of a group of large people approaching him.

"Our only hope right now, as no sightings have been confirmed, is to keep sharing his face for the public to see and share, and hopefully somebody notices him."

The family including his dad Scott and aunt Sharon are expected to make a direct appeal today at a press conference in Clydebank Police Office.

The latest appeal comes after cops carried out an operation on Saturday in the town.

Officers spoke to motorists and around 1,000 people in three separate areas of Clydebank including near Scott's home in Second Avenue, around Clydebank Shopping Centre, and at Clydebank bus station at Chalmers Street.

Scott is described as white, 5ft 10ins in height and of slim build with dark coloured hair.
