A couple celebrated their wedding on board a Glasgow sightseeing bus.

Katie Mone and her husband Jonathan McCall threw wedding etiquette to one side by booking the bright red open-top bus for their big day.

The couple, from Paisley, fell in love with the idea of the tour bus rather than a traditional wedding car after Jonathan, 33, proposed to Katie, 32, his girlfriend of seven years, on-board a City Sightseeing Dublin bus in February 2015.

Katie said: “The bus holds a very special place in both our hearts and was the obvious choice for transport on our wedding day.

“It was the first thing we booked.

“When Jonathan proposed in Dublin it was a huge surprise.

“We had been to the likes of New York and Las Vegas and I did wonder if he would propose then, but it never happened.”

Jonathan added: “I had wanted to propose for a while but always felt when we went on holiday on our own Katie was expecting it to happen.

“So when planning Dublin I invited some friends to put Katie off the scent. It worked and thankfully she said yes.”

Katie and Jonathan, who both work for Jet2.com at Glasgow Airport, married on July 30 at St Mirin’s Cathedral, Paisley.

The pair, however, pulled out all the stops and kept the open top bus as a surprise from the wedding party.

Katie said: “Most people knew how Jonathan proposed so it was a lovely
surprise and a really special way to travel to the reception with our closest friends and family.”

The wedding reception was at Kirknewton House Stables in West Lothian.

Operated by West Coast Motors, City Sightseeing Glasgow is part of City
Sightseeing Worldwide.

The hop-on and hop-off tour is one of the most convenient and popular ways to visit Glasgow’s top tourist attractions and iconic sights including The Riverside Museum and The People’s Palace.

Jono Harwood, of City Sightseeing Glasgow, said: “We were delighted to have played such an important part in Katie and Jonathan’s big day and wish them both much happiness for the future.

“We often provide transport for wedding parties, but never the bride and groom!

“This was a first and who knows maybe it will start a trend.”

Katie added: “The team at City Sightseeing Glasgow did a terrific job, especially our driver Bill.”
