An 18-year-old student has offered a £100 reward for the return of her teddy bear - as she can't face starting uni without it.

Desperate Anna Cross lost her Winnie the Pooh cuddly toy that was always by her side while on a trip to the beach.

And now as she is heading off to university, she needs to get back the soft toy which is "very much part of their family".

Her mother Jane, 50, of Plymouth, Devon, posted the plea on her daughter's behalf.

She said: "It is my daughter's bear. She is not a little girl, but she has had him for years, and he has been through so much with her.

"He has been by her side through all sorts of traumas and difficulties and we can't believe he has now gone.

"We were on a sailing trip recently and he disappeared. We actually live in Plymouth, but we were on a trip around Brixham and Dartmouth at the time.

"We are sure that he is more likely to be in the Brixham area."

Anna is now preparing to go off to university, and her family are desperate to reunite the pair before shes goes.

Her mother added: "We are desperate to get him back, that is why we have offered the reward. He is very much part of our family.

"Pooh Bear has been on so many adventures and travels with Anna, he has been to Everest with her, he has been on school trips, and even taken part in the Tall Ships races, and now he has disappeared before this next milestone in her life.

"To her, he really is so important.

"They were inseparable, he has been through so much with her, and now she is going off to university and won't be able to take him with her."

The family are hoping to hear from anyone who may have picked up the lost toy in Brixham.
