A motorist ploughed through the front window of a petrol station shop narrowly missing a mother and her baby.
The vehicle, driven by a woman in her late 50s, crashed through the front window of a shop attached to Esso filling station on Coatbank Road, Coatbridge at 12.30 today.
Customers were forced to jump out of the way as the blue Ford Fiesta careered into a Subway sandwich counter where a number of people were queueing for lunch.
Two fire engines were deployed to the scene within minutes, followed by police and two ambulances.
There are no reported injuries.
The driver was reportedly left shaken after the incident having returned to her car after paying for fuel.
A police spokeswoman said: "We received a call about 12.25pm after reports of a vehicle that appears to have gone through the window of a petrol station.
"We are still on scene dealing with it."
The petrol station was closed off to motorists this afternoon as police remained in attendance.
