He was the beautiful blue-eyed boy who captured our readers’ hearts – now Max Millar is helping us launch our search for his successor.

Today marks the start of the 2016 Times Tots competition and the hunt is on for the city’s cutest kids.

Next week, our photographers will be visiting local shopping centres to find the bonniest bairns.

We have teamed up with Clydebank Shopping Centre, The Forge and East Kilbride Shopping Centre this year, so if you want to be in with a chance, pop in and see us next week.

You can visit Clydebank on October 3 and 4, East Kilbride on October 5 and 6 and The Forge on October 7 and 8, any time between 9.30am and 5.30pm.

Babies and children up to the age of five can have their pictures taken - for free - by Evening Times photographers. The photos, which will be available to buy, will be published in the newspaper and readers can vote for their favourite by telephone, text or by filling in a form that will appear in the newspaper, and which counts as a double vote.

The winning tot will claim a fantastic first prize of £1000 cash and £250 worth of vouchers, plus the coveted trophy and a framed print. There will also be two runners-up prizes of £250 worth of vouchers and a framed print.

For Max Millar’s mum Nicola, the prize money came in very handy last year as it arrived just in time for her little boy’s first Christmas.

She said: “Christmas is a really expensive time of year when you have young children so it was a real help.

“I’m lucky I have two boys as Max can play with all of Josh’s toys that he has grown out of – we are currently packing up some of them to put away for when Max is older. And to make room for the new things he is bound to get this Christmas from all his family.”

Max, who lives in East Kilbride with his mum Nicola, dad Allan and big brother Josh, who is nine, is now 18 months old and a happy, healthy toddler.

“He is into everything,” laughed Nicola, who works in the town’s Sainsbury’s supermarket.

“He loves toy cars and playing on his trampoline. He has also started nursery now and is settling in really well.”

She added: “We were over the moon and really surprised when Max was chosen as the winner – it was lovely.”
