Just three of the city's attractions that have been rated a 'must do' by people from Scotland's capital city.

Scotrail has teamed up with Glasgow City Marketing Bureau and Marketing Edinburgh for a unique initiative, which is encouraging people from the rival cities to celebrate their differences and swap places for a day.

The Great City Swap features advertising, digital features and events over the coming weeks, encouraging people to travel by train.

Eagle eyed readers will have spotted the advert on the front of yesterday's Evening Times, saying "Edinburgh, quite good shock" encouraging readers to try out the vegetarian eatery, Hendersons.

And an advert encouraging Edinburgh Evening News readers to visit some of Glasgow's best known attractions was run on the same day.

Glasgow people rated the Forth Road Bridge and Portobello Beach as must-see places to go in Auld Reekie as well as a walk along the Western Harbour.

Another reader is encouraging the Glasgow public to take a walk up Arthur’s Seat but bring water and some chocolate and go to The Sheep Heid afterwards for a pint or a Sunday roast.

Other readers said: "Treat yourself at the Sheraton’s One Spa rooftop pool. They do day passes and you can watch people going to work while you’re drinking healthy smoothies.

"Climb up all the steps of the Scott Monument and see the city, but take a big bottle of water. Take two if you want to make friends. Take three if you want to make money!

"Head to Hendersons for lovely vegetarian and vegan goodness and if you’re lucky they’ll have some atmospheric live music playing as well.

"Make sure you go to The Pitt. The fantastic street food and live music is a winning combo.
