A nurse who admitted called a patient with severe dementia an "old c***" has been suspended.

Anne Marie Boyd also said to colleagues she would "pee herself laughing" if the elderly woman died during the night at Udston Hospital in Lanarkshire.

The abusive nurse grabbed the 86-year-old woman and forced her back into her room when she became agitated and anxious and was seen wandering in the corridor.

She was overheard by three colleagues muttering under her breath that the elderly woman was an "old c****."

Three of bond’s colleagues witnessed the incident and when one of the nurses went into the pensioner's room to reassure her, Boyd told her colleague she was a, "f******" martyr.

The incidents happened during a night shift in the Douglas Ward of the hospital on September 20 last year.

The nurse also joked about over-medicating a number of patients to ensure a "quiet night.

Boyd was suspended for a year after a hearing by the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

A spokesperson for NHS Lanarkshire said: “We can confirm that Anne Marie Bond is no longer an employee of NHS Lanarkshire.”
