Dozens of children turned out for the first day of the Times Tots competition to be in with their chance of being named Glasgow’s cutest kid.

The 2016 competition got off to a flying start as photographers visited Clydebank Shopping Centre.

Children of all ages put on their best smile for the camera in the hopes of winning their parents the £1000 cash prize.

Mother-of-four Bernadette Swindon entered four-year-old Anna, two-year-old Keira and one-year-old Andrew, into the competition.

She said: “We were just having a day out and decided to stop for a picture.

“If we won, the money would be put towards a nice holiday for all of us or I would give it to Santa.”

Stephen and Kathryn O’Donnell, from Kelvindale, brought their two grandkids four-year-old Grace and one-year-old Blair, to the centre especially for the photoshoot.

Stephen said: “The kids have loved it and the photographer was great at helping them relax and smile.

“You know what grandparents are like - we love showing off our grandkids so we thought this would be a good idea.

“Grace was in the paper about three years ago when we was just a baby so it’s nice to have it done again.”

Babies and children are able to have their pictures taken for free by Evening Times photographers as part of Times Tots.

The results will be available to buy, will be published in the newspapers and readers can vote for their favourite by telephone, text or by filling in a form that will appear in the newspaper, which counts as a double vote.
