IAN FERGUSON has ruled out a return to Scottish football as he focuses on his coaching career Down Under.

The Rangers legend moved to Australia after leaving Dunfermline in 2002 and hung up his boots after spells with Northern Spirit and Central Coast Mariners.

Ferguson was appointed Director of Football and Coaching at Northern Fury three years ago and is overseeing the next generation of kids coming through the ranks.

The 49-year-old continues to keep a close eye on events at Ibrox from afar but is unlikely to return to these shores to work in the future.

Ferguson told SportTimes: “We are doing really well and our kids have excelled. We are an amateur club bringing kids through and giving them opportunities to go on to bigger and better things.

“A lot of our kids have represented their countries and we even got a player down to Brisbane Roar. A young girl got through to the Mini Matildas.

“It has been very successful this year and probably one of the best we have had so I am really enjoying it here.

“I don’t see us going back to Scotland now. There were a couple of vacancies and I put my name forward but I didn’t even get a reply.

“That was about four or five years ago and I put my hat in the ring for a couple of things. We never got a response and that was disappointing.

“But I am here nearly 15 years now and we are enjoying it here. I don’t see us coming back now. We are settled here, the family is good and we are enjoying life here.”
