ARTIST Paul Kennedy paints a small picture of Skye an Italian rescue Greyhound.

It is one of many pieces at the Leiper Fine Art Gallery in West George Street, Glasgow as part of the Night at the Dogs exhibition.

Paul is the curator of his own exhibition which runs until October 30 and is spending his curating time painting more of his beloved Greyhounds.

The exhibition is based on his visit to Shawfield Dog racing track during one of his old school friends stag night back in 2013.

Paul reflected:”My visit that night set me on a course to document all aspects, from the dark side to the happy retirement of an old dog worth his salt and now a legendary pet.”

Born in Glasgow, Paul graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 2004 and returned to establish his studio in the Merchant City, from where he works as a full time professional artist.

Paul has delivered many solo exhibitions and achieved awards such as the RGI Kelly Gallery award, The David Cargill award. He was a finalist in the 2010 Aspect Prize.

Much of his work has been inspired by the city, depicting a narrative between the people and their surroundings, His paintings are strongly connected to his own life and experience but also the lives of the strangers he encounters on a daily basis.

“We all have these histories which one day will be lost. I bring together drawings and photographs to create paintings that depict a narrative of the interaction people have with their surroundings.”
