The Geordies have got mortal, Essex’s finest have told us to ‘shut up and dahlings let’s not forget about Made in Chelsea.

Yes it’s fair to say reality TV fans have had their share of the UK and now it is Glasgow’s turn to show everyone what we are made of.

I had a first look at new reality TV show Glow during an exclusive screening and I have to say it lives up to the hype.

Did I cringe? Of course I did because hearing our strong accent and the language we use always makes me feel that way even if it is comedian Kevin Bridges talking on Graham Norton.

But getting past that, Glow ticks all the boxes every reality show must have.

Granted it is not everyone’s cup of tea but people like myself who love this format will marvel in the drama, glamour and weegieness the show offers.

Yes they are all tanned, the cast also have whiter than white teeth, and some of the men have forgot to put on their socks.

But when it comes to entertaining me, they did just that.

The standout star of the show is bar manager Denise Wilkie. I instantly took to the 24-year-old because she is pretty, likeable and opinionated.

She gets into an argument with another cast member in the first episode which features the Glow stars supporting boxer Paddy Reilly in his first professional boxing match.

She is a natural in front of the camera and is definitely one to watch among the cast.

Providing the laughs is personal trainer James English. He is hilarious and I don’t even think he realises just how funny he is.

His comic timing, silly faces and crazy dance moves will leave the audience in stitches.

Glasgow Times:

Tommy, Paddy and James have a gossip in Airdrie.

It’s early doors but I imagine the show’s heartthrob will be club promoter Tommy Macfarlane. He simply comes across well in camera and has the looks most teenage girls will obsess over.

And without spoiling the plot there is a love story already, which does come across as a bit cheesy – but then again I have never known Scottish men to be that romantic, or am I being too harsh?

The other characters on the show have yet to show what they are made of, and I am sure in coming episodes that will happen.

But for what it is Glow is innovative, fun and something to be proud of.

We have a young talented producer in Stephanie Doherty who is trying to break the mould by delivering a reality show via the internet.

That in itself is something to celebrate.

The show also puts the spotlight on our fantastic city, its musicians and the humour of the people, and that is something you can only applaud.

Glow will have its critics but at the end of the day no one is forcing you to watch it – although I think most of you will secretly have a swatch.

Catch Glow tonight at 7pm via www.glasglow.tv.
