Jim Carrey has posted a cryptic message online as he faced more accusations in a wrongful death lawsuit brought by his late ex-girlfriend’s mother.

The Hollywood star is being sued by Cathriona White’s mother Brigid Sweetman and estranged husband Mark Burton over claims he illegally provided his former partner with prescription drugs involved in her suicide.

Ms Sweetman and Mr Burton have also claimed that Carrey gave Ms White, from Ireland, three sexually transmitted diseases before her death in September 2015.

Carrey, who has vehemently denied the allegations, took to Twitter on Thursday to share a message with his 15.3 million followers.

He wrote: “When you stand solidly with those who bring love and goodwill to the world, every challenge makes you stronger, deeper and more creative.”

Lawyers for Ms Sweetman filed evidence on Thursday which they say shows “conclusively” that the Bruce Almighty actor and his legal team “misled the media, the public and the court about Carrey’s transmission of STDs” to Ms White.

They claim to have the lab results from Carrey’s STD test in January 2013, which was allegedly submitted under the bogus name Jose Lopez.

Ms Sweetman’s legal team, led by Michael Avenatti, says Carrey “hid the truth from Ms White and continued to have unprotected sex with her after he learned he was STD positive, all in violation of California criminal law”.

Ms Sweetman said: “These documents show that Jim Carrey has lied to the media, the public and the court.

“Carrey has now been shown for what he is – a dishonest Hollywood celebrity who thinks he can say anything and fool people just because he is famous.

“I am going to make sure that the world learns the truth about what Jim Carrey has done and the many lies he has told about my daughter, me and our family.”

Following Ms Sweetman’s lawsuit, a statement was reportedly issued by the White family which said they have no involvement in the legal action.

In response to Ms Sweetman’s latest court filing, Carrey’s lawyer Martin Singer said: “This is just another desperate attempt by the attorney after Cathriona White’s own family distanced themselves from this sham lawsuit yesterday.”

Ms White, 30, from Cappawhite, Co Tipperary, was found dead at her Los Angeles home in September 2015 after overdosing on prescription drugs. A coroner recorded her death as suicide.
