A MAN has been arrested in connection with a spate of robberies in Glasgow.

The 20-year-old is now in police custody after the four incidents which happened on Tuesday and Wednesday.

In the first robbery, it is alleged a 22-year-old woman’s bag was stolen in Beaconsfield Road at around 3.30pm on Tuesday.

Police said she suffered a minor injury but did not require treatment.

It is then alleged that an 18-year-old was robbed in Armadale Street at around 6.25pm on the same day.

She was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment for a minor injury.

Later that day, at 9.25pm, a 28-year-old woman was allegedly robbed of her bag at Great Western Road, close to St Georges Cross. She sustained a minor injury but did not need treatment.

The final incident occurred at midnight when a 47-year-old woman was allegedly robbed of her handbag outside Tesco Extra, at Dalmarnock Road. She was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University hospital and released after treatment.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “A 20 year old man has been arrested and is presently detained in police custody in connection with all four incidents.

“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
