ANTI-VIOLENCE campaigners have called on a major high-street chain to remove a store promotion in Glasgow featuring a burned and bleeding woman.
Scottish Women’s Aid said the shocking till display could cause flashbacks to mothers and daughters who have been the victims of domestic abuse.
The image greets shoppers at the branch of Superdrug in Silverburn Shopping Centre.
In its defence, the company claims that it is a celebration of Hallowe’en and insists it is a “zombie bride”.
The blonde model’s hair is matted, there is burn damage to her right eye and cheek and blood is dripping from her left nostril.
Dr Marsha Scott, chief executive of Scottish Women’s Aid, said she found the picture “awful”.
She added: “We can’t believe anyone thought this picture was acceptable much less that it would sell something.
A spokeswoman for Superdrug said: “We apologise if our imagery has caused any offence as that certainly is not our intention.”
