A MAN was hit over the head with a weapon in Govan on Sunday night.

The 44-year-old was attacked as he was walking along Carmichael Street at around 7pm.

He was approached by a man who hit him over the head with a weapon.

The victim was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment and has since been released.

The suspect is described as in his early 20s, white, and spoke with a local accent.

Detective Constable Stevie Walker, from Govan CID, said: “This was a random and unprovoked attack which left the victim with a serious head injury.

“It is crucial that we trace the person responsible as soon as possible and I would appeal to anyone with information to contact us immediately.

“In particular we would like to speak to a man who was in Carmichael Street at the time of the incident and may have witnessed what happened.
