A SCHOOLBOY from Glasgow is set to be reunited with his beloved stuffed toy after losing it on a family holiday.

Seven-year-old Cole Bruce has had his teddy Jude since he was a few weeks old and was devastated when he misplaced it in Arran over the weekend.

Mum Kathleen and dad Darren, from Newton Mearns, searched the island’s Auchrannie Resort where they were staying, but were unable to find the special toy.

Darren said: “I was out in the pitch dark with my head torch on looking for it.

"By the time I got back to the room, my wife and Cole were both in tears.

"I think she was more upset about the bear being missing than she would be if it was me!

“There was a lot of tears the rest of the weekend.

“The bear is nearly as old as he is, it’s his wee companion. He’s taken it on every holiday we’ve been on whether abroad or at home - he’s really attached to it.

“After we got home I went straight on the internet to see if I could get a replacement but because it was so old, it had been discontinued. I was writing on loads of different forums trying to get a hold of another one.”

In one final attempt to get Jude back home, Kathleen decided to put out a Facebook appeal asking if anyone had seen the bear.

Within a matter of hours, the post had been shared across the country.

Darren added: “My wife was inundated with really nice messages from people asking to help.

"People from all over the island and Scotland who wanted to see Cole reunited with the bear got in touch.

"We even had the captain of the Arran ferry messaging to say his staff had been briefed to look out for him.

“Finally, a lady who works at Auchrannie got in touch to say she had found a similar looking teddy while tidying up.

“She sent a picture over to confirm that it was the right one which thankfully it was.”

Managers at the resort organised for the teddy to make the long journey back to Glasgow, with Darren making sure it was sent special delivery.

Darren said: "I didn't care how much it cost, just as long as we got it back in one piece.

"We're hoping it'll be home in time for Cole finishing school today or tomorrow."
