POLICE will be on the streets of Govanhill tonight to quiz locals for information that might lead them to missing Janet McQueen.

The 58-year-old was last seen by her neighbour leaving her home on Langside Road around 10pm on Tuesday, October 18.

One week on from when she was last seen, officers will be in the area to speak with local residents who regularly walk past Langside Road, Cathcart Road, Pollokshaws Road and Victoria Road to seek further information that might help trace Janet safe and well.

Janet is described as white, 5ft tall, of slim build with short black hair.

She was wearing glasses, a black anorak and dark coloured trousers.

Inspector Alex Hutton, Cathcart Police Office, said: “We know from speaking to family and friends that for Janet to be out of touch for this length of time is not like her at all.

"There are serious concerns for her wellbeing.

“Our enquiries have been continuing to trace Janet safe and well.

"Tonight, officers will be tasked to patrol a number of streets stretching from Govanhill to Shawlands.

"We will be speaking to as many people as we can to try and develop new lines of enquiry as to her whereabouts.

“I would appeal to anyone who knows Janet, or who may have seen her since Tuesday, October 18, to call officers at Cathcart Police Office via 101.

"If you encounter officers on the streets of Govanhill and Shawlands, please approach them with any information you may have.”

“You may not think the information you have is much, but as part of our broader investigation it could make all the difference”
