Police have spoken to over 100 people as part of their efforts to find a missing Govanhill woman.

58-year-old Janet McQueen was last seen on Langside Road on Tuesday October 18 at around 10pm.

Officers have questioned 147 people near Janet’s home and described the response as ‘positive’.

On the day she went missing, Janet had been on a bus in Ballieston where she became so distressed the police were called to take her home.

After being returned to family on Tuesday afternoon, she is thought to have left her home again that night, this time saying to a neighbour that she was going to visit family.

Janet left her dog, money and mobile at home in Govanhill.

Inspector Gary Ritchie, Cathcart Police Office, said: “We have been speaking to family and friends who say that her being out of touch for this time is not like her at all, hence the cause for their concern and ours.

“Every morning, Janet usually goes to from her home in Langside Road to the Sir John Stirling Maxwell pub in Kilmarnock Road, Shawlands, for a cup of coffee and cake and sometimes later in the afternoon, the James Tassie public house, but she hasn’t been seen in either recently.

“I would appeal to anyone who knows Janet, or who may have seen her since Tuesday, to call officers at Cathcart Police Office via 101.”

Janet is described as white, 5ft tall, of slim build with short black hair. She was wearing glasses, a navy blue anorak and dark coloured trousers.
