Melvin Odoom will be able to move on from his early exit from Strictly Come Dancing as he joins forces with his Kiss Breakfast Show co-host, Rickie Haywood Williams, to present the Mobo Awards.

The radio duo will helm the 21st anniversary celebrations of the annual awards ceremony in Glasgow next month.

Melvin – who was the first contestant to leave BBC’s Strictly this series – and Rickie said: “Glasgow are you READY??! Wait until you see what we have in store for you!”

They joked: “Our kilts are ironed, bagpipes tuned and dance steps fully in check. It’s going to be a night you do not want to miss!”

The twosome have worked together for several years and have won a handful of awards, including the Silver accolade at the 2009 Sony Radio Academy Awards in the Breakfast Show category.

Previous hosts of the awards ceremony include R&B artist Jason Derulo, Britain’s Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon and reggae artist Shaggy.

The Mobo (Music of Black Origin) Awards celebrate and honour stars of any ethnicity who create and perform black music.

Performers at the forthcoming event include Craig David, Laura Mvula, Tinie Tempah, Clean Bandit and Chase & Status.

Nominees include singer-songwriter Mvula and grime music star Kano, who are leading the pack with four nods each.

Kano and Mvula are both previous winners at the Mobos – the rapper took home the newcomer gong in 2005 and Mvula won for best female and best R&B/soul act in 2013.
This year’s Mobo Awards take place on November 4 at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow.
