Police are urging fans to enjoy themselves and behave responsibly on Saturday when Aberdeen play host to Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership league leaders, Celtic.

Kick-off is at noon and officers will be supporting both clubs to ensure the day is safe and enjoyable for all before, during and after the game.

Match Commander Chief Inspector Murray Main said: "Our message as always during such fixtures is that we want fans to enjoy the game and it goes without saying that our officers will very much join in with the spirit of the event.

"The overwhelming majority of fans come to matches with their friends and family to enjoy the fixture, and they want to do so in a safe and secure environment.

"However let me be clear that Police and both Clubs will deal with any anti-social behaviour in any form, and I can assure you that anyone who chooses to act in such an unwanted manner will be dealt with quickly and robustly.

"You could be arrested and potentially appear in Court. You could also be banned from future matches.

"Please remember that officers will be working closely with stewards and will be closely monitoring anyone who might be in possession of pyrotechnics of any kind.

"It is a condition of entry to the ground that fans allow themselves to be searched and those who refuse will be turned away by the club. I also want to remind fans that they should not drink alcohol in the street, in the stadium, or when travelling to and from the game. Those who attend the ground drunk will not be permitted entry into the stadium and may well be arrested.

"The city-centre is expected to be busier than usual with Pay Day weekend and those out for Halloween, so please bear this in mind when you are making your way through the centre of the city and act responsibly.

"Finally, and most importantly, we hope you enjoy the game."
