POLICE are searching for a teenage boy who set off to visit family and never arrived.

Ryan Duffy, from Newark Drive in the Gorbals, left home at 4.05pm on Tuesday afternoon.

The 17-year-old, who was carrying his mobile phone and a small sum of money, left to visit a family member in Castlemilk but has not been seen since.

Sergeant Adam McKim of Cathcart Police Office said: “Although Ryan has been missing once or twice before, it’s usually overnight.

"However, it’s now two days which is not like him.

“He usually frequents the ‘four corners’ in the city centre, or Castlemilk or Easterhouse.

"Indeed, on this occasion he said he was off to see a family member in Castlemilk, Glasgow, however, he did not show up there at all.

“We know he has his mobile with him and a small amount of money but that fact that he has not been in touch with friends or been seen since he left on Tuesday afternoon is concerning.

“Officers have been checking CCTV, speaking to family and friends but so far no joy in tracing him.

“I would appeal to anyone who knows him to contact police as soon as possible. I would also ask Ryan himself to either go back home or speak to police – we all need to know that he is safe and well.”

Ryan is described a white, 5ft 6inch, of slim build, with cropped, dyed blond hair – skinhead style – and he has his lip and tongue pierced.

He was wearing red/orange tracksuit bottoms, a grey North Face jacket with orange writing and white Nike trainers.

Any information about his disappearance can be passed to officers at Cathcart Police Office via 101.
