VICTIMS of the tragic crash that killed Rangers fan Ryan Baird were given a tour of the club’s Auchenhowie base.

Ryan, 39, died when the bus carrying the Nith Valley Loyal crashed on their way to Ibrox for the fixture against Partick Thistle earlier this month.

A minute’s applause was held during the match with St Johnstone and members of the supporters’ group joined Mark Warburton’s side for training yesterday.

Mr Warburton said: “We had all the boys from the bus in at the training ground.

“Shortly after the crash we went down to see them a lot of the boys had cuts and bruises. It puts everything else into perspective.

“You realise how close some of them came. Some were saying they’d sat in the seat where Ryan unfortunately was. You can imagine the stories, there was one young lad who was coming to his first ever game at Ibrox.

“It was good to get them in and show them around – it was the least we could do.

“I wasn’t aware of the applause on Wednesday night, we hadn’t been told.

“We found out later – it was very poignant.

“Individually and as a team we had our pictures taken with the boys, we spent some time with them and it was the right thing to do.

“You can talk about a game of football but we met Ryan’s mum and dad and his fiancée and it was devastating.

“We met the supporters and it shows this is only a game.

“The boys suffered some horrible injuries so it was good to see them back to full health and enjoying their morning.”
