TWITTER has announced it is to close its video sharing service Vine.
Though the social media site gave no reason for the shut-down, it comes on the back of news it is cutting nine per cent of its workforce.
Having bought Vine in 2012 for a reported $30million, Twitter subsequently acquired live-streaming app Periscope and has introduced another video facility into Twitter’s main platform.
Its loss will be keenly felt by many who are devoted to the site, which has launched the careers of several social media celebrities.
We decided to take a look at some Scottish vines that have defined the micro-video service.
Frustratingly many of the most comedic clips proved too blue to share, but we can reveal colloquial swearing and Still Game quotes featured in many of our favourites.
Here's what we can show you.
In the eyes of many, the undisputed king of the Scottish vine scene is Brian Limond, aka Limmy. His unique brand of offbeat humour has found massive favour on the micro-video site.

Here Steven Fletcher shows his musical talent in a vine that may make you hungry for more than just a Scotland victory.

Glasgow's architecture quite often causes visitors to utter expressions of astonishment. In this case however it may be less than sincere.
The trademark wit and humour of Glaswegians was oft-displayed through the platform. Here's an example of goold old-fashioned dad humour.
Buskers on Buchanan Street were sometimes captured on Vine, as shown here during sunnier times.
