Filming for the sequel to the iconic Trainspotting movie returned to Clydebank on Monday night.

The Douglas Hotel, at the corner of North Douglas Street and John Knox Street in Whitecrook was repainted at the end of last week to become the "Port Sunshine", the fictional bar in Irvine Welsh's 2002 novel Porno, the sequel to Trainspotting.

Residents were informed by production company TS2 Productions Ltd of filming of scenes to "show people coming and going from the hotel" from 6pm on Monday.

Temporary traffic restrictions were put in place for North Bank Street and John Knox Street between the bowling club and the Douglas Hotel.

In July, director Danny Boyle was in town for the first round of filming.

He told the Post: "It's absolutely lovely to be in Clydebank.

"The weather is great. I always remember the Billy Connolly joke saying there's only two seasons in Glasgow - winter and June."

In the sequel to the 1996 Academy Award-nominated movie, Ewan McGregor will reprise his role as Mark “Rent Boy” Renton, Robert Carlyle returns as Francis “Franco” Begbie and Jonny Lee Miller once again plays Simon “Sick Boy” Williamson.

Reports say filming took place during the summer at a pub in Bellshill and outside the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh.

Trainspotting 2 is scheduled to be released on January 27, 2017.
