A MAN jumped out on a pregnant woman and her friend with a metal pole after arguing with them on the street, a court has heard.

David Dillon, of Eastermains, Kirkintilloch, appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

Dillon, 23, came across the women at around 12.10am in the town’s Armour Drive.

The court heard from the Procurator Fiscal depute the women were out for a walk because one of them was pregnant. She couldn’t sleep and she felt unwell.

Both women approached Dillon and a discussion started.

It became heated and Dillon assaulted one of the woman after he
swung a punch in her direction.

The women began to make their way home, and Dillon jumped out from a grass area holding a metal pole.

He told the women, “I’ve just f**king done your windows.”

Both the women in fear for their safety ran away from Dillon.

When they approached the property on Burns Drive, they discovered a large patio slab lying in the living room floor.

Glass from the window pane was strewn across the floor surrounding dog cages which contained pets. The police were contacted.

Dillon defence agent said: “It’s not excuse but he admits he was intoxicated when he committed these offences.”

His defence agent added that his client had a fairly chaotic childhood.

The sentencing sheriff placed Dillon under supervision for 12 months and he was told he must complete 240 hours unpaid work.

She said: “These matters are serious and with considerable hesitation I am stepping back from a period in custody.”
